Is it a good thing or a bad thing that out of the 13 longlisted authors I recognise three names and I have not yet read even those?
Based on the short descriptions of the books I have picked out one that spoke to me straightaway, although, that may be saying more about the judge’s words rather than the book. Nevertheless, one has to start somewhere…
Looking for something positive to read with my niece I found The Book of Hopes: Words and Pictures to Comfort, Inspire and Entertain Children in Lockdown compiled by Katherine Rundell and containing contributions from more than 110 children's writers and illustrators.
I have not yet finished it as I use it as a source of a daily dose of positivity.
